Two sugars and a couple of chart hits please….

Peebles choir, InChorus, wants to thank their families, friends and the good people of Peebles for the success of their recent fundraising coffee morning at the Peebles Ex-Servicemen’s Club.

Choir members had been up since dawn baking for the event, resulting in a wonderful home baking stall. Other stalls included recycled much loved CDs and DVDs, jewellery and bric-a brac, hand crafted cards, plants, and, for the kids and young at heart, face and rock painting. There was also a huge raffle, tombola, and quiz.

The gentlemen of the choir served the coffees and teas, and, to top it all, the choir performed at intervals throughout proceedings, giving a first airing to some of their new songs. Visitors were treated to the choir’s rendition of ‘Dancing in the Street’ which the choir had just recorded in preparation for their community involvement project in the Peebles Creative Festival at the end of August.

The weather was spectacular and it was the beginning of Beltane week, which meant that everyone was out in Peebles, and many made their way to the InChorus hub. The resulting income from all of this was in excess of £1400, a terrific amount.

Choir manager, Lorna Turnbull said, “Enormous thanks to all the people who came along and made this such a great success. InChorus never takes the support we receive from Peebles for granted. It is always thoroughly appreciated. For our part, we hope to continue to entertain the community whenever possible.”
