Yesterday we delivered two completely sold-out concerts, each with 156 audience members — including 28 children under 12, many of whom may just become the next generation of musicians inspired by what they heard!
On stage, the talent and teamwork were extraordinary: 🌟 Two incredible young soloists — Gregor Scott and Erika Franssen — whose talent, professionalism, and stage presence left audiences in awe. 🎤 19 young Stardust Performance Arts singers, beautifully prepared and singing with confidence far beyond their years, taught by Fiona Henderson School of Dance and AmyBeth Beel. 🎶 InChorus, adding 34 powerful voices after weeks of hard work and rehearsals. 🎻 51 orchestra members, supported by a full band and even a pipe player, all giving their absolute best. 🔊 Andy Wright, our brilliant sound engineer, conjuring clarity and balance out of a very challenging acoustic space. 🎼 And the person who drew every thread together into two spectacular performances: conductor Ross Gunning, whose leadership, energy, and passion shaped the heart of this entire project.
Behind the scenes, an army of people made the magic possible: 📚 Jill, our orchestra librarian, tackling mountains of music, printing and distributing over a thousand pages to keep everyone on track. 🍷 Chris, with help from orchestra friends and family, organising front-of-house, drinks, ticket checks, borrowed instruments, and countless invisible tasks that hold a concert together. 🏛 Anne, endlessly securing, altering, and re-arranging rehearsal and concert spaces. 💷 Aled, our steady treasurer, keeping the financial side running smoothly. 👥 Helen, coordinating all the players and ensuring the orchestra could take shape. 🏫 A huge thank you to the Peebles Community Trust and Tweeddale youth Action, who generously provided additional backstage space so we could house instrument cases, equipment, and people. 📸 And to Derek Todd, for capturing the magic of the day through his wonderful photography.
This project has been nearly a year in the making, and yesterday showed what can happen when a community comes together with enthusiasm, determination, and love for music.
💛 Thank you to every performer, volunteer, organiser, supporter, and audience member. Together, we proved just how extraordinary our small community can be.
